Shorty & Leisure is an acoustic project between “Shorty” Matt Miller (mandolin player from Charlotte based Bluegrass troupe – The Moonshine Racers) and rock n’ roll singer/songwriter Leisure McCorkle.

By mixing the originals of McCorkle and a healthy dose of Americana type classics, the Standard plays a variety of different venues ranging from bars, pubs, and restaurants, to patios, private parties, and festivals. Founded in 2009, Miller and McCorkle have become staples around the Charlotte, NC and Charleston, SC areas, also having played various venues around the Southeast.  McCorkle’s rich sensibilities of hooks and melody, and Miller’s depth in musical complexity makes this acoustic duo an innovative and refreshing addition to the regional musical landscape.  Already, the duo has been preparing an album to showcase their original compositions, but in addition, they reinvent the cover material they play in an exciting and ambitious way.

From family style events and festivals to rock n’ roll nightclubs, Shorty & Leisure offer an alternative by mixing a healthy dose of Americana, Bluegrass, Alternative, Blues, Jazz, Ethnic-Traditional, and Rock into an experience for everyone.  With well over a hundred shows already under their belt, they have steadily become a household name in the neighborhoods around Charlotte, and beyond. Once you hear the mando-acoustic style of Shorty & Leisure, you will understand why great music feels like home.
